Thursday, 10 May 2012

We like to think we're very sharing over here at Aimee Dunne, and more so this month with some of our 'Pearls of Wisdom' in Wedding Magazine. Flick to the back page and you'll find some of our helpful hints there!

BIG Round and Bouncy...

Wednesday, 25 April 2012

...Balloons of course, and I LOVE them, big round ones. They're the latest wedding and party trend, and they're a great design statement. A small expense and a little bit of creativity and you can make your wedding or party stand out from the crowd. Aren't they gorgeous, I want to squeeze them. I've just got some in the post from the lovely Pearl and Earl, now I just need to find something to do with them! Also have a look at some pictures on my Pinterest page of this and more gorgeous trends and generally very lovely things.

Trends: We Love Our Fans

Thursday, 16 February 2012

I keep seeing these gorgeous little fans (I'm not sure if there's a more technical term but they look pretty fan-ish to me) and I have a feeling we may be seeing more of them. Cutture had them at their, as always, stunning stand at the Designer Wedding Show this month, and I just noticed them on a pretty little post over at Preston Bailey's ever lovely blog. A bit like paper poms, I can see them being used in lots of ways; as the backdrop to a themed sweetie table or lots of them being hung as a feature. I'm sure they could be made quite inexpensively and they'd make a really eye catching and original feautre. Keep an eye out for them...

2012 Wedding Predictions

Tuesday, 24 January 2012

2012 is certainly upon us and here at Aimee Dunne we’re looking forward to all our 2012 weddings and New Year enquiries. With that in mind, here are our predictions for what we''ll be seeing in our weddings, and events, in the months to come.

Photo Booths.
Photo Booths are a great way to add some fun to your wedding day, and have some added memories to keep and share. These can be tailored to suit your wedding theme, from a traditional booth, or a taxi booth like those offered by megabooth.com.

Vintage.
The vintage theme has been a staple favourite for a few years now and is still going strong. From vintage pastels to lace doilies, it’s still a firm favourite; and with companies such as vintagestylehire.co.uk hiring out beautiful vintage pieces, it’s becoming easier for brides to plan and afford beautiful vintage style.

Sweetie tables.
Around 80% of my clients have a sweetie table on their wish list. I LOVE them, they can be as small or elaborate as you like and can be themed in such fun ways. Originating from the States, from the likes of the wonderful Sweet Stylist Amy Atlas, they’re certainly finding a home here in the UK. A wonderful local company I've worked with is Let Them Eat Cakes.

Cake Pops.
Another trend from the States, companies such as popbakery.co.uk are doing a marvellous job of bringing these cute little cakes on sticks to our shores. They work fantastically with Sweetie Tables, as favours, or just on their own for fun. Move over cup cakes, cake pops have arrived!

Laser Cut.
I’ve always loved a bit of stationery, but give me some laser cut stationery and I’m in wedding heaven! My favourites are from the ever so talented cutture.com and chartula.co.uk. Traditionally quite an expensive option, products such as Chartula Create are allowing style savvy brides to get DIY laser cut stationery at an affordable price.

Inspiration: Amy Atlas Events

Tuesday, 30 August 2011

I'm surprised how often I see things that make me swoon out loud (and talk to my laptop about how pretty something is which may soon start to worry me...). It's all part of the job description. I love beautiful things, I want to make everything beautiful, to design events that make people swoon out loud and remember long after the tables have been cleared. Events are so visual and if something can be gorgeous, then it should be. Life's too short for bland and boring. One person I think really demonstrates this is Amy Atlas. Amy, based in New York, is recognised for creating the stylized dessert bar trend and has appeared across a variety of American TV shows, press, and has a fantastic blog, Sweet Designs. Designs such as Amy's continually inspire me and remind me why I love doing what I do.

Oh how lovely: Cake Pops

Monday, 11 July 2011

Whilst searching the web for cake pops for my son's 1st birthday party (which has clearly turnt into a rather large event but quite the norm for me to get somewhat carried away with anything that involves entertaining...) I came across the gorgeous Cake Pops site. It really captures the fun essence of the cutesy little pops and why another American trend has hit our shores. Love, love, love them. Right, I'm off to make some paper pom poms...
